Galgotias University student found dead in sewer had drowned, Noida Police say

Yashasvi Raj, a second-year agriculture student from Bihar, was found dead in a sewer a few hundred meters from Greater Noida University three days after visiting a tavern in Dankaur on October 12. His family filed a missing person complaint. the next morning.

After the discovery of his body, the police opened an investigation into his death under article 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Three students who had gone to the tavern with him were questioned, police said.

Raj’s local guardian and aunt, Ankita Kumari, said he would come and stay with her over the weekend. “Many weekends he would come and stay with us in New Ashok Nagar. We left for our native place in Bihar to take Yashasvi’s body for his last rites. That day he had told his mother at phone that he had arrived at the university… After that his phone was no longer reachable. It was the last time we spoke to him, ”she said.

According to Kumari, Raj’s mother is a teacher and his father works in a company. “They took out a loan to send him to study here. We want justice done, she said.

Kumari alleged that the students who accompanied Raj may have a role in his death. “His phone was not found with his body. It should be located and all details of the call checked with those of the students…the whole case will come out,” she added.

Raj’s family filed a complaint citing six students. Police said the investigation is progressing.
